Getting Involved with Calico

Come and have a chat, complete a survey, attend a topical meeting, get involved in your local community group or even become a board member.  Even if you don’t have much time to spare,we can fit around your commitments and give you the opportunity to tell us what is important to you. If you have any special needs (i.e. have difficulty leaving your home) we can help you have your say.

We have a dedicated Community Involvement Team who aim to get customers involved, providing you with opportunities to tell Calico your views.  The Team work with all staff, community groups and local agencies to make sure you and your community are able to influence the way we deliver our services. By working together with staff and teams at Calico you can make a real difference within your community.

Different ways to get involved

We try to offer as many ways as possible for you to get involved. We also give each activity a time rating to give you an idea of how much of your time each way of getting involved will take.

Here are a range of options we offer to help you have your say:

E-mail - Keep up to date and share your views to help Calico improve in a quick and convenient way

Mailing List - Prefer not to attend a meeting?  We can send you information through the post and use your comments and feedback to help us tailor our services.

Phone/Text - Short of time but still want to share your opinions? Add your contact number to our database to get involved by phone.

Local Drop-In - Call in at a session where we share relevant information in your community.

Mail Mike - Got an idea to improve Calico performance or customer satisfaction?  Call 0800 169 2407 to leave your suggestion or email mailmike@calico.org.uk.  Awards are made for any outstanding suggestions.

Membership of Calico - Help improve the future of the company.  Become a member and you can:
Help Calico grow and become even more successful • Attend and vote at general meetings • Be consulted with regard to service improvement • Receive copies of Calico’s Annual Accounts and Annual Report

Tenant and Resident or Community Group - There are lots of voluntary groups in the community - Join in the fun and share your ideas & skills.  Contact the Community Involvement Team to find your nearest group or CLICK HERE. Calico support and work closely with a number of groups and can work with you in your community too.

Discussion Groups - One-off discussion on a specific issue or concern.  What are you interested in?  These sessions can cover a range of issues from: Repairs • Anti Social Behaviour • Lettings • Regeneration To wider topics such as: Young People • Families • Black/Minority Ethnic groups

Neighbourhood Action Teams - You can work with our Neighbourhood Action Teams to make your area of the town a better place to live.  Take part in a monthly estate inspection or get involved with organising community events.  Make new friends and be a part of change for the better.

Project Groups - Come together on a regular basis to discuss and develop a specific project.  Projects can cover a range of topics including: the way we communicate with the community (The Calico News Team) to Customer Conference planning.

Forums - Regular themed discussion groups such as our Senior Forum for older residents, or the Disability Forum, which looks at all the issues that can affect people with disabilities.

Tenant Inspector - Become an inspector and you can monitor, review and regularly inspect services then make suggestions for improvements.

Tenant Board Member - Have a direct say in decision making by getting involved in the Board of Management who run Calico.

How we can help you get involved

To make sure you can come to any sessions you are interested in, we will provide help to attend meetings where it is needed, including:
•  interpreters and translators
•  help with transport and childcare
•  disabled access
•  hearing loops
•  all documents and presentations written in Plain English and large print where needed
•  staff trained in British Sign Language
