A range of services and support for older people

All of us get a little bit older every day, but this can be a positive thing; at Calico we don’t think your maturity should limit your choices or lifestyle – we support you to keep your independence, and enjoy easy access to services and involvement –when you need it.

What can we do for you?

Calico offers a broad range of services that enable you to keep your independence.  You may want to stay in your own home, or move in to one of our Older People’s properties, depending on your needs.  The choice you make should ensure complete peace of mind for you and your relatives.

Homes 4U

Older people’s housing properties vary from flats and bungalows around the community, to blocks of flats with communal facilities.  It is usually aimed at people who are 60 or over, although the age is sometimes lowered, depending on your needs.  Everyone applying is subject to an assessment of need.

Home Support

This scheme enables you to live independently for as long as you are able to.  Our Home Support Officer will create a package of support with you to meet your needs.  You will also receive community alarm equipment, providing a 24 hour response service for extra peace of mind.

Services and support include*:

  • Routine and emergency visits
  • Advice on getting aids and adaptations
  • Assessing and monitoring your needs
  • Help with issues such as completing housing benefit claim forms, correspondence, health, reporting repairs and anti-social behaviour. 

 

*As well as your rent, there is a Support Charge for the services we offer. The charge varies depending on the type of home you’re in.  (The majority of customers in older people's housing receive a grant to cover this service charge).

Extra Care

This offers all the benefits of an enhanced Home Support scheme, but with an extended service.  In partnership with Social Services, Extra Care offers a tailor-made package of care over a 24 hour period.

Support
