We may be able to help if you or a member of your family is having difficulties due to a disability.
For simple adaptations, including grab rails, extra banister rails, lever taps, or special switches, call our Call Centre on 0800 169 2407.
We will provide what you need within 30 working days.
If you need more major changes we’ll carry out an assessment to see if it’s best for you to adapt your current home or move to more suitable accommodation.
If it’s thought a move is best we’ll offer you financial and practical help that will make it easier.
What happens next
After you get in touch we aim to visit you within 10 working days, and make a decision about your adaptation within 28 days of that visit.
When your needs are classed as urgent, we send a report to Burnley Borough Council, which is responsible for completing all urgent adaptations.
If non-urgent work is agreed you’re placed on our waiting list. We write to you regularly to tell you about the progress of your application.
We hope that the maximum time that you’ll have to wait is 12 months from your first request, but this depends on funding and the work required.
If it’s not appropriate to adapt your home, but you decide to stay where you are, you might be able to get a disabled facilities grant from the local council. This would let you fund your own adaptation. However, you still have to ask us for permission before you start any work.
